You Can Eat Deep-Fried Pink Squirrel at This Year’s Wisconsin State Fair
Is there really anything better than fried food on a stick?
The Wisconsin State Fair is the place where calories don't exist. Actually, that rule applies to any fair. It's the place to totally indulge in all of your favorites. There are classic fair foods like corn dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, and more. But the Wisconsin State Fair does things differently.
They are so committed to the food game they even have their very own food finder on their website. Let's just talk about some of the food on this list. I know you're probably like, MJ, get to the deep-fried pink squirrel. I'll get there, but first, let's drool over this list of food from the food finder that caught my eye.
Glazy Boy (This one is a sandwich and the buns are glazed donut halves)
Peanut Butter Squealer (This is like a breakfast corndog)
Wow. Anyone else drooling?
Let's take a look at some of the deliciousness ...
And then of course, the crowd favorite.
Okay, now for the one that really caught my eye.
DEEP-FRIED PINK SQUIRREL.
Let's just get one thing straight, it's not an ACTUAL squirrel.
Here's how the Wisconsin State Fair's website describes the treat -
We replace the drink flavors of crème de noyaux with almond and crème de cocoa with chocolate. We start with homemade pink almond cheesecake in the center. Then we coat the outside in almond flour and crumbled vanilla wafers. We drop it in the fryer for a few minutes to soften the center and turn the outside golden brown. The ball then gets topped with chocolate sauce, vanilla cream cheese frosting and a maraschino cherry.
My brain can't even process that yumminess.
Check out all the food from the food finder here.
