WROK High School Basketball Broadcasts Return This Weekend

After a LONG timeout, high school basketball is returning to the Stateline as well as the airwaves. 

We are excited to announce that 1440 WROK will be once again airing high school basketball games starting this Saturday afternoon. Our focus this season will be on the NIC-10. But just like everything else during the pandemic, things will be fluid.

The NIC-10 announced their schedule 2 weeks ago after Illinois high schools were given the green light to restart athletics. They will be playing 3 games a week. Tuesday and Thursday nights as well as Saturday afternoons. The conference has been divided into 2 "divisions" teams will only play the other 4 teams in their division until the final game of the season which will feature a crossover game between the two divisions.

The schedule of play looks like this:

We **plan** on airing two games a week. One on Tuesday OR Thursday night and then every Saturday afternoon game. Pregame should start roughly 30 minutes before the 7:30 tip-time during the week and 1:00 tip-time on Saturdays.

Our first broadcast will be this Saturday afternoon at East High School when Harlem comes to visit.

A reminder that fans will be severely limited this year. The NIC-10 just sent out their Spectator Guidelines for basketball, bowling, cheer, and dance. The main points are :

• Spectators are permitted at events as long as they maintain social distancing throughout the event as outlined in the IDPH Phase 4 Mitigation Guidelines.
• Event Capacity - 50 spectators from the home school only, not including players, coaches, and game day personnel.
• Tickets will be allocated at the discretion of and distributed by schools with priority given to athletes' families.

The crowd at the games will be light, but hopefully, we can broadcast some games to fans, friends, and family members who otherwise would miss out on the live basketball action.
