Winnebago County Scores A ‘B’ On Social Distancing Scoreboard

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says social distancing is the best way to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Some states and cities are doing it better than others though. Overall, Illinois scores an 'A' when it comes to social distancing, but Winnebago County is just a tick below with a  'B' average.

The scores come from unacast.com, created "to empower organizations to measure and understand the efficacy of social distancing initiatives at the local level."

Basically, the grades come from the change in distance traveled since the outbreak hit the United States.

In that time, Winnebago County residents have traveled 38.04% less. Six days ago, Rockford and the surrounding cities scored a 'D.' However, the shelter-in-place order which went into effect Saturday afternoon changed the score drastically.

Eight days ago, the grade was an 'F.' Now it's a 'B'. Social distancing really is the biggest key to stopping the coronavirus in its tracks. Now we just need to get that grade up to an A and we'll hopefully get back to living our lives like we're used to.
