Why Was a Stretch of E. State Street Closed Last Night?

A portion of E. State Street was closed last night and there isn't much information as to why.

I was driving on E. State Street last night around 8:15 p.m. and a portion of E. State was blocked off with flares.

I'd only seen flares in real life one other time when I lived in L.A. and someone had jumped off a bridge.

Last night there were at least five police cards surrounding the intersection by Lowe's on E. State and flares blocking off the street forcing me to drive around to get back on State.

I couldn't figure out what was going on, and watched the news last night and didn't see anything.

Does anyone know what was going on?
