The Guilford Viking Boy's basketball team loves their second year head coach Chris Dixon and showed it by knocking him on his butt.

The Vikings knocked off the Boylan Titans Friday night 58-50 to take sole possession of 2nd place in the NIC-10 standings. It had been years since Guilford defeated Boylan in basketball so there was reason for the excitement.

1440 WROK happened to be there that night for Friday Night Hoops. Dave Perrone and myself were not only impressed by what Guilford did on the court but also by their second year coach. You only need to talk to Coach Dixon for a few minutes to see why his players bought in to his system and absolutely love him.

After the big victory, Coach Dixon and one of his players joined Dave and myself upstairs for a post game interview. What Dixon didn't know was that his adoring players were waiting for him at the bottom of the steps to greet him with the only Gatorade bath I've ever seen at a high school basketball game.

Now, was it the smartest idea to douse a man wearing (some very nice) dress shoes with 10 gallons of ice water on hard tile floor? Probably not but that's absolutely what makes them high schoolers and this video awesome.

The roar that went up the staircase to where we were broadcasting was deafening. This audio does it some justice but I remember feeling the wave of sound like someone had hit a buzzer beating half court shot.

Listen:

That wasn't the only win for the Vikings that night. Guilford is firmly in first place in my own Friday Night Hoops concession stand rankings. It's been a rough start to the year, concession-wise for us, but this hot dog hit the spot before the game.

Congrats to Guilford, Coach Dixon, and this fun basketball team. We look forward to what you have left in you the rest of the season.

P.S. It was also Coach Dixon's birthday Friday night. He says he's 51 but there's no way he's over 40. I hope your birthday presents included one trip to the dry cleaners because I think you might need to get that suit taken care of.

Stacker dug deep to find 30 celebrities who were previously college athletes. There are musicians, politicians, actors, writers, and reality TV stars. Mansion Like No Other Home in Illinois with Island, Beach and Waterfall

The most surprising thing about this Downer's Grove dream home, at least to me, is the listing price. I expected it to be much higher than it is.
