Rich Renik, a mentor and friend of mine, along with Denny Farrell (and others) are asking the people of Illinois to send support to Illinois politicians to honor Military Veterans on driver's licenses.

Similarly, this has passed in other states including Tennessee. According to the Tennessee Department of Safety, in 2011 the State of Tennessee enacted legislation that allows the miliary veterans to have the word "Veteran" printed on their license. Of course, veterans need to have had an honorable discharge from service. You can see an example of the license here.

Rich and Denny would like this to happen as well in the State of Illinois. A proposal has been sent to three State Senators for their review and sponsorship. As of now there has been no response.

The individuals they have been contacted are:

Senator Martin A. Sandoval - Transportation Committee Chairperson

(MSandoval@senatedem.ilga.gov)

Senator Steven M. Landek - State Government & Veterans Affairs Committee Chairperson

(SenatorLandek@gmail.com)

Senator Kirk W. Dillard - Sits on the State Government & Veterans Affairs Committees, as well as the Transportation Committee

(senator@kdillard.com)

To offer support, reach out to these three State Senators and let them know!

I personally think this is a fantastic way to honor our Veterans. 40 other states have already passed similar legislation. Together we can make a difference.
