There's a new ordinance in Little Rock, Arkansas that deserves deliberation in Rockford. According to a story shared by WIFR, this ordinance is two-part. It's an effective way to clean up litter and it gives a chance for homeless folks to get back on their feet. Yes, homeless people are being paid to pick up trash as part of Little Rock's "Bridge To Work" program.

The City of Little Rock passed an ordinance in March that will pay homeless people $9.25 per hour, the minimum wage in Arkansas, to help pick up trash in the city.

The program received funding from Little Rock's Public Works Department, a local church oversees the program, and there are two supervisors in charge of getting workers to their respective cleaning airs. The workers make $9.25 an hour (Arkansas' minimum wage) and can work four hours a day, three days a week.

This is definitely worth a conversation within the city of Rockford.
