When I was growing up, pretty much every summer we took a road trip vacation. My dad would take two weeks off for vacation, and we would jump in the car to go. During some travels, we covered a lot of ground and hit many different states. I would get excited when we crossed the border into a new state. I remember even stopping a few times to get a photo.

Every state has a different way to greet visitors and welcome back residents. When it comes to state welcoming signs, the one I can remember the best is Wisconsin. I realize I've been there the most, but there's something about theirs that seems different. Maybe it's the memories of going to Alpine Valley from the Chicago suburbs. Seeing that big wooden sign would let us know that we were getting closer.
Recently, I read an article that named the welcome signs in Wisconsin the best in the United States. Apparently, seeing that greeting immediately relieves the stress of the driver. I can understand that coming from the Chicago area. There might be other states with fancier signs, but the ones in Wisconsin reflect the attitude of the residents, which is relaxed and chill.
