Stock Up on Snacks, A New Dispensary May Be in Rockford’s Future
It is most definitely a new era in Illinois. marijuana dispensaries are popping up more and more.
Dispensaries are the newest trend in Illinois since recreational marijuana became legal in the Land of Lincoln and though they aren't on every corner like a certain "golden arches" fast food joint, it doesn't take a terribly long drive to find one.
The subject of cannabis is becoming less and less taboo, it seems. Maybe there will come a day when people are as open about it as they are with alcohol. But, for now, some 420-friendly folks feel the need to sneak in and out of a dispensary in order to enjoy their preferred flavor, if you will.
Does Rockford need another dispensary option?
Let's be real, when it comes to consumers having multiple options on where to buy whatever is a plus, Competition sometimes yields to competitive prices and, when it comes to pot, it's not cheap.
Taxes, taxes, taxes.
If you aren't aware, the taxes on recreational cannabis is a whopping 30%, it is very easy to drop a benjamin with a single visit to a dispensary.
Rockford/Machesney Park
This is not a done deal but there could be a new dispensary option at the weird spot of Harlem Road and N. 2nd Street where you have to guess if you're in Rockford or Machesney Park
The plan at this point is in the very early stages, to the point where the potential owner is seeking the general public's opinion of the area, mainly potential varieties of crime.
"We will be opening up on the edge of Rockford and Machesney park (2nd and Harlem) right next to the Family Dollar and Lil Caesars", the interested business person shared via a Reddit post.
Should we be concerned or not really? Do you think we will have a lot of customers?
The negative folks will instantly jump in with a resounding, "No, too much crime!" I'm sure but, shocker, crime is everywhere and can happen everywhere.
