Starting This Sunday Ride The RMTD Bus For Free In Rockford
In Rockford starting this Sunday, you can ride the RMTD bus for free.
Sometimes it's just easier to take public transportation. I'll take the bus to O'hare Airport, Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, and more. My friends live in Chicago and we take buses to get around the city. When I was in college, I got on to get to campus and around town. Before I had my driver's license, my friends and I would take it to the mall.
It beats driving to congested places and big events. Especially, if you want to party. It's a lot cheaper than a limo, taxi, Uber, or Lyft. Easier than trying to catch a train. I rather ride the bus instead of walking or bicycling.
I think people in the Forest City forget we've got a really nice bus system to get you all around our community. More people should definitely take advantage of it. Now, there's another benefit. That's the price. Starting this Sunday, it's going to be free to ride. Plus, they have a bunch of new really nice buses.
Besides waving fares, there are several other changes too. For all that info, HERE.
According to mystateline.com,
"Rockford Mass Transit District says it will be reducing the number of passengers on city buses and waiving fares for all service, beginning November 8th. RMTD says it is undertaking the measures due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the service area. RMTD says these service changes will be in effect as long as Region 1 is operating under Tier 1 and Tier 2 mitigation efforts are no longer in effect for a sustained period of time."
