Slash Is Tired of Being Asked About a Guns N’ Roses Reunion
Even though he hasn't been a member of Guns N’ Roses for 20 years, Slash is still regularly asked about the possibility of a reunion with his old band. And in a new interview, he called it a “dumb question” that “annoys” him.
Speaking to Italy’s La Repubblica, he said that the subject is far off the radar of everyone involved. “[T]he reunion question annoys me because no one has done anything about trying to get a reunion. … None of the guys in the band have gone public and said there was gonna be a reunion or anything like that, and it's just for lack of imagination to ask me this dumb question which they know what the answer is."
Back in 2012, it was revealed that Slash created a list of seven conditions that must be met before he would consent to granting an interview. While Guns N’ Roses questions were acceptable, the list said there were limits to what he would talk about, including, “No questions about Axl [Rose] whatsoever” and “No questions about a possible Guns N’ Roses reunion.”
He appears to have recanted, however. Last month he was asked on CBS This Morning and was a bit more diplomatic. “I mean, if everybody wanted to do it and do it for the right reasons,” he said, “I think the fans would love it. I think it might be fun at some point to try and do that. … Never say never.”
For Slash it’s not just the idea of answering the same question again and again, but also the motives behind the asking of it: “The other thing that I can't stand is when people are looking for, sort of, a negative response so that they can use it for making press seem more interesting or whatever."
