Rockford’s St Patrick’s Day Parade This Saturday, POSTPONED

You will need to find new plans this weekend, there will be NO PARADE for St. Patrick's Day in downtown Rockford. MyStateline

25 and Sunny does sound like a miserable walk for those planning on attending and/or marching. The funny part is, Sunday the high is 54...thanks Mother Nature, thanks a lot.

Here is the official statement from the Irish Marching Society:

“We felt that it would be far too miserable for the marchers and that the parade attendance would suffer as well. We want this event to be well attended by the community as a way of celebrating Spring and coming out of Covid. With the weather we didn’t see that happening. What is the purpose of a parade if there’s no one around to watch it? This decision also allows to move forward with attempting to dye the river green this year.” - The Irish Marching Society

One bright "green" spot is that "Paddyfest" will still be going on down at Prairie Street Brewing Co. starting at 4pm...So while you can't march or drive or get pelted with candy for the parade, the green beer and holiday foods will be happening at Prairie Street.
