Thinkstock[/caption]If the zombie apocalypse hit Rockford where would you go? Here are the 10 safest places in town.

1. Laser Quest – You’re thinking “How does Laser Quest qualify as a safe place during the zombie apocalypse?” Simple, the people that go to these places know how to shoot. Now only if they had real weapons.

2. Kap Guns or any other shooting range in Rockford – Ah, this is where you get the real weapons for the zombie apocalypse. If you don’t feel safe at a place with a bunch of ammunition during the zombie apocalypse, you won’t feel safe anywhere.

3. Peak Sports Club or any other gym – The place with all the ammo has been ransacked? A gym has things that can be used as a weapon like weights and things like that. But what if you don’t know how to use any of those?

4. Elite Defense Systems or any other martial arts place – You can forget weapons when you can go hand to hand with the zombies. If you get in early enough hopefully there will be a trainer on hand but what if on the way there you saw something else?

5. The National Guard in Machesney Park – This would seem like a safe place. The armory is usually secure, you just need to hope that there will be National Guard staff on hand to save you because you skipped out on hand to hand combat training.

6. Rockford Police Department – This could also be a nice place to lay your head while zombies are running around eating brains. Just like the National Guard though, you need to make sure that some police are around to keep you safe.

7. Winnebago County Jail – If all else fails with the police, national guard or martial arts places, you can just go to jail. Wait, jail? Think about it, it’s safe. There are built in rooms with bars that you can keep yourself locked in until you get the all clear. It worked in The Walking Dead, well, sort of.

8. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Laurent House – Not sure if you want to be around ammunition while the zombie apocalypse goes down? Maybe a stay at one of the most historic architectural wonders Rockford has to offer. Wandering_Scholar_J on Trip Advisor reviewed the Laurent House saying “I have been to several FLW homes across the country, outside of Falling Waters this is my favorite structure. An amazing place to visit. Ill move in after the zombie apocalypse.” Not if we get there first.

9. Rock River – If all else fails, get a boat. Parked in the middle of the Rock River seems like a last resort thing to do but if you think about have you ever seen a swimming zombie?

10. Prairie Street Brewhouse or any other bar in Rockford – Like Shawn of the Dead, you can find your favorite watering hole "have a nice cold pint and wait for this all to blow over."
