Rockford Man Tries to Rob Target, While the Rockford Police Dept Was There
A Rockford man attempted to rob the Target store on East State street, as a bunch of Rockford cops were inside shopping. WREX
So you've see it this time of year, our local law enforcement gathered at a store to buy presents. "Shop with a Cop," it's called a variety of things.
Well, this past Saturday was the Rockford's police unions “Presents with PB & PA Unit #6.” So as you can picture it in your mind, there were UNIFORMED OFFICERS inside the Target location on East State Street in Rockford. I'm not exactly sure how this specific one works, but there were cops buying presents...in the store...
William Carr of Rockford was inside the Target store as well, but he was NOT shopping. He was attempting to steal bottles of wine...While all the cops were there.
A Target store employee caught Mr. Carr stealing the wine and didn't have to go too far to ask for assistance. Knowing that the gig was up, William Carr tried to take off running...From the Target store filled with cops...That didn't end well for Mr Carr. William faces retail theft and resisting arrest charges...Oh and he also had a warrant from the state's correction's office.
Retail theft, not smart to begin with...retail theft with a store full of uniformed officers, REALLY not smart. Cheers!
