I got one of the biggest thrills of my young life when, as a Cub Scout in 1972, our den mother informed us that we would be appearing on WIFR-23's "Mr. Mustache Show."

Mr. Mustache (Bruce Lewis) was a huge star to us Cub Scouts. As a matter of fact, Mr. Mustache was incredibly popular with kids from all walks of life, and to tell people that you'd been on his show, well, that my friends, was bragging material.

Bruce brought Mr. Mustache to life on Sundays from 1967-1982, with his drawing lessons, puppets, and games. He really seemed to enjoy himself so much, and that joy was infectious.

I hadn't thought about the Mr. Mustache Show in years, but thanks to alert listener Dan, who sent a link to the video below, I got to take a nice trip down memory lane this morning with Rockford's version of Mr. Rogers.

Sadly, Bruce Lewis passed away in 2009 at the age of 67.
