After a Rockford concert, a member of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame steals an apple pie.

Behind The Scenes

With things like the internet, social media, YouTube, and reality shows, I realize people like to have a peek beyond the curtain They want a look at the inside.

There are many people in Rockford like myself, who love going to concerts and have really missed them over the last several months.

I thought a good way to pass the time until we can go see our favorite bands again would to get that a behind-the-scenes tour of live shows.

Each Tuesday morning at 8:30, Don Kronberg from NiteLite Promotions joins me for a segment called "Backstage Pass An Inside Look At The Concert Industry." Don shares stories, updates, and what it takes to put on a show.

His latest tale is hilarious. Take a listen. It is definitely worth the time.

Cliffnotes

If you do not have the time to watch the video, here is the story.

On April 29th, 1997, Crosby, Stills, and Nash played a show at the Coronado Theatre. I was there, it was a good concert.

That was before the multi-million dollar update to the place. The backstage area was a trainwreck. It was rundown and very small.

Since it was not a good place to hang out, Kronberg and his company had advised the band to not come down to the theater until soundcheck.

Unfortunately, they did not follow those directions and showed up several hours before the doors were to open.

Catering was already an issue for the day with no space to operate but everyone had to be fed. The early band arrival caused a food shortage.

The promoter wanted to make sure all of the roadies, crew, and band members were taken care of, so he let them eat and his staff along with himself were going to have to wait.

At that time, there were not a lot of downtown Rockford restaurants to grab a meal. The day was busy so Don did not have time to run out for some food.

Right before showtime, he approached the caterer about leftovers. The only thing left was an apple pie and she put it into his office for safekeeping until after the concert.

The concert promoter was so hungry, all he could think about the rest of the night was digging into the apple pie when he had a couple of minutes.

After the show, he was finally able to go enjoy his dessert. When he got to his office, he caught Rock Legend, David Crosby, eating his pie with his hands. Like Winnie the Pooh eating honey out of a jar.

Just like this.

Now, picture Rock n Roll Hall of Famer, David Crosby, doing it with an apple pie. I would pay to see that. Too bad there is no video or picture of the incident.
