Jim Morrison may have been the Lizard King but David Bowie can lay claim to being the Rock 'n Roll Chameleon. Whether it's late '60s hippie, early '70s glam, his mid/late '70s Berlin period or just being the world's coolest guy since the early '80s to today, Bowie has effortlessly restyled himself.

By 1976, Bowie was lucky to be alive with an appetite for cocaine and it was catching up to him. Looking for new surroundings, he and his wife settled on Berlin, West Germany. Similar to the way a method actor dives headfirst into a role, Bowie took the regular life away from L.A., he and his wife Angela lived in an apartment above an autoparts store and dined regularly at a neighborhood cafe. He also was very creative at this time, releasing what would be known as his 'Berlin Trilogy'; Low (1977), Heroes (1977) and Lodger (1979). Iggy Pop also escaped to Berlin to clean up. While there, Bowie produced two albums for him.
