Illinois Has A New Favorite Sport & No Need To Be Super Jock
If you're looking for a hobby, many people are trying this new up-and-coming sport.
Illinois Loves Its Sports
It doesn't matter what level or what game, Illinois loves its sports. Residents will go play it or cheer on their local favorites. This new trend is an old game but has made a big resurgence in the Land of Lincoln. The sport is Pickleball. Over the last few months, I've been hearing more on more about it.
What Is Pickleball?
According to usapickleball.org,
The sport combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Can be played inside and outside. The court is similar to tennis and is the same size as badminton. Players use paddles and plastic balls with holes. Games can be singles or doubles.
Here's the best part. You don't have to be a "Super Jock" to play. People of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game too. Check it for yourself.
Rockford, Illinois Is A Big Pickleball Town
I consider Rockford a big sports town. With the Forest City's location, there's a big variety of team fans. Of course, all the Illinois and Wisconsin teams get love here but so do organizations from Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, and more that have supporters in the area.
The residents of Rockford also enjoy playing sports too like golf, softball, bowling, and hockey to name a few. Another one is creeping up the ranks and that is Pickleball. There's even a club in town called Rockford Pickleball. They host lessons and tournaments. For more info, HERE.
The Rockford Park District also features many opportunities to play Pickleball at several of their facilities with both indoor and outdoor courts available. They rent equipment if you want to give it a shot. For more info, HERE.
