Under the new cannabis law for Illinois, marijuana smoking lounges would be legal.

I remember the first documentary I watched about Amsterdam, I was amazed at what I saw. A customer could go into a cafe and order pot just like a beverage. Then go back to a table and smoke it.

I never thought that would be possible in the United States let alone Illinois. Especially, when most of the country doesn't allow using cigarettes indoors at public places.

As the smoke clears from the newly legalization of marijuana in our state, the details are starting to come out. This is a very interesting one. There could eventually be weed cafes in Illinois, just like in Amsterdam.

According to chicago.suntimes.com,

"Legalization includes an exemption to the Smoke-Free Illinois Act ban on indoor smoking, letting cities decide whether to allow on-site use at bars, restaurants, theaters, even new cannabis smoke lounges."

"That’s under a largely overlooked provision of the new Illinois law legalizing recreational marijuana use and sales."

It works like a cigar lounge.

This could be a very different kind of dynamic with the Illinois situation. It would enable tourist coming to our state based on legal cannabis another avenue to partake. That means more ways to make money and tax it.

January 1st, 2020 is going to be a very historic day in the Land of Lincoln. It will be interesting to sit back and watch what the future brings.
