Marijuana dispensaries are considering opening stores on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

As January 1st, 2020 approaches, one of the big questions is where will you be able to purchase cannabis in Illinois? The state is in the process of figuring that all out.

One of the locations the pot stores are considering in Chicago might surprise you.

According to chicagotribune.com,

"Cannabis companies are eyeing sites on some of the priciest retail streets in Chicago, including the Magnificent Mile, as they get ready to sell recreational marijuana in Illinois. Dispensaries have opened in marquee retail spots around the country like Fifth Avenue in New York and a mile from the Las Vegas strip. Chicago’s turn may be next. Real estate sources say industry players are scouting locations with heavy foot traffic and alongside well-known retailers. If dispensaries end up on the Mag Mile, marijuana sales would bring a new definition of “high street."

I remember as a kid going downtown with my family every year around Christmas time to check out the decorations. Michigan Avenue was a very classy and expensive shopping area. It would be funny if pot shops eventually opened there.
