Leaving Leaves in Your Street Will Cost You a Fine

Keep the leaves from your falling trees out of the streets or you can expect a $750 fine.

Rockford has no shortage of trees. It is the Forest City after all! With the season changing and leaves falling from trees, the city has decided that residents are responsible for the leaves in front of their properties.

According to MyStateline.com, the city does have a street sweeper, yet it is not equipped with a vacuum. If they hired a street sweeper that does, it would have cost the taxpayers an extra $400,000.

The problem with the leaves in the street is that if it rains, or the wind is strong, they can clog up the sewer system. Trust me when I say no one wants that.

If the police catches you blowing your leaves in the street you will be slapped with a $750 fine.
