It was another busy weekend for Rockford Police with several incidents reported around the city including a car chase that ended with a crash into a house.

Car Crashes Into the Side of a Chicago Building?

You may have seen a video going viral last week on social media of a car that appears to have flown into the side of a building in Chicago.

'You see some crazy things when driving in Chicago, but this was a scene that was being filmed for the TV show Chicago Fire and not a real car accident.

Rockford Man Flees from Police Before Crashing Into a House

According to a report from the Rockford Police Department, officers from the SCOPE team attempted to stop a car on Park Avenue when the vehicle fled "at a high rate of speed."

Just moments later, officers spotted the vehicle as it sped through the intersection of Whitman and N. Church Street before it lost control and crashed into the porch of 962 N. Church Street.

During their investigation on the scene, the Rockford PD SCOPE team recovered 15 grams of cocaine.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old David Reed of Rockford who now faces the following charges filed by the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office.

  • Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
  • Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
  • Outstanding City of Rockford Arrest Warrants
  • (2) Outstanding Winnebago County Arrest Warrant
  • Multiple Traffic Offenses

Both Reed and a female passenger who was riding in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital for their injuries, according to the press release.

Rockford Police says "the charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law."
