Rockford, I Got This Walmart Scam Call And You Might Be Next
Beware of the $919.45 Walmart Robocall Scam
You'd think that these scam calls, these robo calls, would cease when they figure out the other person on the line knows what's up.
It's just funny because the minute I get a scam call like this, it makes me immediately think I can use this call on the air and give them a bit of public shaming for trying to be so shady.

The Script: A PS5 and an Unnamed '3D Headset'
Anyway, here's what happened to me, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one. I get a call from some random number that says I have a $919.45 pending purchase on my Walmart account. The items I apparently bought are a PlayStation 5 and a 3D headset.
The fact that one item has a brand name and the other doesn't should immediately set off alarms, but anyway, the voicemail urges me to call a number back immediately to let them know I didn't make the purchase.

Why Calling Back Puts Your Personal Data at Risk
The FCC warned about this specific scam in December 2025, saying if you call the number back, you'll get connected with a scammer who will attempt to obtain personal or financial information. So whatever you do, don't call the number.

Safe Ways to Verify Purchases and Report Fraud
Instead, do what I did: open the official Walmart app and check for any unauthorized purchases. The other thing you can do is reach out to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau's Scam Tracker and tell them all about it. Taking those extra steps helps those who need to know so they can spread the word around to those who might not know "what's up."
The reason why these scammers keep doing this is that all they need is for it to work just once, so if we all band together, we can stop it from happening.
