There have been lots of rumors about the future of Alpine Valley Music Theater, Double T from 96.7 The Eagle gets the official word from the V.P. of Marketing Midwest of Live Nation.

If you live in the Rockford area and a fan of live music, there is a good chance you've been to Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin.

I have so many great memories of attending shows there. The list of bands is very long but includes Van Halen, Def Leppard, Ozzy, and Kiss to name just a few.

Going to Alpine Valley isn't just about a concert, it's the whole experience. Getting there early to tailgate. Sitting on the lawn and partying with your friends. Walking up and down that steep hill. Trying to find your way home through the back roads of Wisconsin. It was all part of it. So much fun.

For several years now, each winter I would hear the rumors. I think the constant one was it was closing and they were selling the land to build condos. I never really put much thought into them, because it didn't happen.

The past few years there were less and less shows, but they were good ones. Quality as opposed to quantity. Then this past summer (2017), I actually got worried. There were no shows scheduled. The officials at the venue said they were taking the year off.

Would this finally be the end of the world famous Alpine Valley Music Theater? Social Media was blowing up.

Then a few weeks ago, word came out that there was a good possibility that Alpine Valley would try to reopen in 2018. Again, Social Media blew up.

I thought it's time to find out for sure. I contacted my friend, Jon Reens. He's the Vice President of Marketing / Midwest for Live Nation Concerts / Music. If anyone knew what was going on, he would.

Here's is my interview with him about the future of the historic venue.

It's official, Alpine Valley Music Theater will be back in 2018 and for many years to come. Live Nation has no intention of closing the place. That is great news for all of us live music fans.

They aren't ready to announce any shows for 2018 yet but be sure to follow them on the website and Social Media to get up to date info. Of course, 96.7 The Eagle will keep you posted too.

I'll see you up at Alpine for a show this summer.
