I couldn't believe it. I got a text from my cellular carrier saying that I had used 95% of my data and that if I went over I would be charged $15 per gigabyte overage.

My husband and I have never, ever, EVER gone over on our allotted data each month.

We both recently updated our iPhones to the newest operating system.

I went through our monthly statement, I searched around in my phone and when I saw it, I was shocked to see that I was using so much data when I was in a Wi-Fi network.

I found that if I went to SETTINGS on my phone, open the CELLULAR menu and scroll all the way down I found something called "Wi-Fi Assist."

What "Wi-Fi Assist" does is it allows your phone to automatically use cellular data if the Wi-Fi signal is weak.

No, no, NO!

If you are like me, and do not have unlimited data usage, then you know as well as I do that this feature could be eating away at your data plan when you least expect it.

I'm happy that I have turned it off and now can save money on not collecting overages.
