Here is an inside looked at the Discovery Center Museum's latest temporary exhibit, "Hot Wheels, Race To Win."

I would not be able to make it now as a kid. Growing up in my house, our family was the last on the block to get a VCR and cable. My dad never let me get a game system because he said it would ruin his television. I finally bought Nintendo in college.

There is no reason to feel bad for me. I had plenty of friends who had those things. There would be sleepovers scheduled quite often. Plus, I had some fun toys to keep me busy. Some of my favorites were action figures including Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Super Heroes. I also really enjoyed Legos and Hot Wheels. I had an impressive collection of the toy cars. Of course, I had a couple of the track sets with loops and jumps.

I kept my Hot Wheels so when my daughter was old enough to play with them, she inherited the toy cars. She still has them to give to her kids someday. My nephew got a few later on.

As a child, my parents took me to see a lot of cool stuff, so I tried to do the same with my daughter. When she was younger, we would try to find fun different attractions to take her to. On vacation, we could find children's museums in many cities.

Luckily, we have many great places to keep the whole family busy. One of my favorites is the Discovery Center Museum in downtown Rockford. They have so many exciting things for kids to do. The best part is they sneak in some learning too. Of course, they have all their regular everyday exhibits like the farm, bubbles, television studio, and so much more.

They also bring in some special temporary traveling exhibits. The latest one is "Hot Wheels, Race To Win." Since I am such a fan of the toy cars, I had to go check it out. The museum invited me down and a few days ago to check it out. Here are some pictures.
