Watch Out Drivers, Illinois Traffic Stings Are Back In Full Force
Illinois residents need to be careful where and how they are driving because the police are giving out lots of tickets.
Illinois Police Issue Hundreds Of Tickets During Recent Driving Sting
I remember when I first started driving, the local police departments throughout Illinois would set up little stings to bust drivers breaking the law for things like speeding, not wearing seatbelt, and other minor offenses. They would hand out literally hundreds of tickets in just a couple of hours.

There was one particular operation that was always successful. That was at one of the busiest intersections in our county. Drivers would get sick of waiting several lights to make a right turn, so they would drive down the shoulder, which was illegal. A couple of my friends got busted with that one.
I haven't heard of big traffic enforcement like that in a long time, especially for driving on the shoulder. Recently, the cops in Cook County set up an old-school sting just like that. This time around, they received some help from a police helicopter. Just like back in the day, they issued hundreds of tickets. Be careful where you're driving in Illinois.

According to Fox 32 Chicago...
Cook County Sheriff’s officers issued over 100 tickets in just a few hours during the first of several new enhanced expressway patrols.
Nearly half the violations (49) were caught using a police helicopter, with most drivers ticketed for using the shoulder to bypass traffic.
Officials warned that driving on the shoulder is dangerous and carries fines of up to $1,000, with patrols continuing to target unsafe driving behavior
