Marco Velazquez is the owner of a South Side property, which is on the market to be sold. He says his realtor came by with a potential buyer, but there were already people inside.

It doesn't seem possible, but an experienced squatter can steal your home right from under you. The police can't do much. Really, your only choice is to fight it in civil court, but that can take months to resolve.

A victim in Illinois tried to battle squatters by moving in with them, but unfortunately, that didn't work. He decided to only reasonable way to get rid of them is to pay them off.
