My father passed away a few years ago, and I knew that once he was gone, I had to step up to help my mother. She was going to need assistance with her bills, banking, taking care of her house, and so much more. It's part of the duty of being a good son. There should be no reason for a mother not trust her son. This idiot gives sons a bad name by stealing from his mother. What a loser!

According to a Rockford police investigation, Schmidt offered to take care of his mother's finances after his father died, but instead of helping his mother, Schmidt spent her money on an "extravagant" lifestyle, the report said.

 

What kind of world do we live in, where someone steals from their mother so they can live a better life when she struggles to pay her bills? I'm sure if he needed money, she would help him out, but he had good jobs with the Elmhurst and Rockford school districts. It's scary that he was trusted with the tax players' money.

It wasn't like he was spending the money on necessary things like food and shelter. The suspect was blowing his mother's retirement fund on booze, vacations, country clubs, and other luxury items. I hope this guy goes to jail for a long time.
