'Born Nude, Live Nude' are words to live by at this family friendly nudist park.

The idea of being naked in front of a bunch of strangers isn't really my ideal family friendly vacation. Yet for some, this is exactly what they are looking for.

Through my bizarre internet search I stumbled upon a list of Social Nudity Places in all of America on Wikipedia. Don't ask me how I got there from originally typing in "Illinois Places" in Google, but I got there eventually.

I'll admit, I was intrigued when I stumbled upon the list and wanted to know where all the naked people hung out.

What I wasn't expecting was a place that isn't just family friendly, but also so close to Rockford.

If you travel about an hour and a half southwest towards Iowa, you will run into a tiny little town called Erie. It's located on the Rock River in between Moline and Dixon.

Here you will find what I'm assuming is the largest, maybe the only, family oriented nudist park The Blue Lake Resort.

Yep, bring your spouse, your kids, even your mother-in-law and camp on over 98 acres of farm land. It's a place where you can camp, swim, sun tan, play volleyball, go horseback riding and more.

Would you be open to take your family on vacation here this summer? If the answer is yes, you may want to be aware of some of their rules.

  • Swimming: Children under 16 years old must be supervised by a parent when swimming or playing on the beach area. No swimming from Dusk to Dawn.
  • Towels: Always carry a towel with you and please sit on your towel for sanitary reasons. Do Not wrap-up in your towel!
  • Nudity: People are expected to be nude!! ALL members of your party must be nude or leave the Park. Parents are responsible for their children to be nude. Clothing may be worn when the weather is inclement. Women may wear shorts or swimsuit bottom on certain days.
  • Married couples: Must join camp together as a couple, but may attend separately, on occasion, if a conflict does not permit attendance together.

Safe to say, nude is all the rage at The Blue Lake Resort.
