I'm not much of a drinker, but if I do decide to have a drink, more likely than not it'll be a beer. But I can admit I'm not a serious beer drinker. I stick to the light and easy stuff. So Illinois "Best Beer" honestly intimidates me.

This feels like the kind of beer you really only need one or two of. Why is that? Because the Bourbon County Brand Stout, AKA Illinois best beer, has almost 15% alcohol and is basically so dark it's black.

Here's the description from MSN -

Illinois: Bourbon County Brand Stout

- Score: 4.66
- Ratings: 13,013
- Brewing company: Goose Island Beer Co.
- Style: American Imperial Stout
- Alcohol by volume (ABV): 14.7%

This ink-black, smoky stout doesn’t mess around: One reviewer says, “The blackness of the beer is like the inside of a coffin on a moonless night.” The ABV hovers around 15% and emits notes of caramel, chocolate, and toffee-like a true stout. Goose Island brewed a winner here.

I saw the words "coffin" and "moonless night" and obviously my brain was like ... SPOOKY SEASON BEER!

Maybe grab some gummy eye balls at the grocery store to have floating in your glass to make it extra spooky.
