I'll never forget the first time I hauled an 8 foot Christmas tree out of my front door, through the snow, down the porch stairs, the long driveway and off to the curb. It was a nightmare. I fell down the stairs through the snow with the tree stuck in the front door. I shook it off and walked around to the back door so I could push the tree out the front door. It worked!

Once I dragged that puppy to the curb, I worked for hours to get all the pine needles out of the house. The pine needles are absolutely the worst part.

But when it came to recycling the tree, moving it to the curb was the only difficult part. The recycling part itself, is so easy.

This year, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful is making it just as easy to recycle your Christmas tree in Rockford. Just toss your tree at the curb between January 1st through January 15th. They will be coming to mulch the trees.

WIFR reports that the city of Rockford will be doing curbside pick-ups for residents. If you live outside of Rockford, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful has 13 sites in Winnebago County for their trees. (KNIB.org)
