Insane Inflatable 5K is September 19th, let's get stretchin' Eagle Listeners!I've been lifting weights for years. I learned proper technique, how to get the most out of everything when I was in high school. Very "old school" training but honestly to this way, the best way to start.

Over the years I've continued to lift heavy, build muscle, and eat properly to get the most out of the hard work I put in. One thing I never really payed attention to was the stretching. Sure I kinda stretched, sure if something was sore THEN I'd stretch it out. But as I get older, proper stretching for physical activity is so important and is a key part of what I do daily.

I can remember going to see a massage therapist years ago for a deep tissue massage and her words still echo in my head. "You have a lot of muscle, I worked out a LOT OF KNOTS but you are as limber as a railroad tie...if you want to continue this you MUST stretch".

I took that advice, and started stretching and boy has it helped. If you do any physical activity, I don't care if it's running around the block or picking up a hammer at work you must stretch. Follow my easy stretching rules and let's be safe out there.

  • Never Bounce - If you bounce when you stretch, you WILL hurt yourself. Go slow and hold.
  • Tension is key - Hold a stretch but if it hurts, don't. Slowly get into position but if you start to feel a sharp pain, stop.
  • Breathing - Do not hold your breath while stretching. Big deep breaths will relax your brain, relax your body and allow you to get the most out of it.
  • Drink Water - Before, during, and after keep hydrated.

Now that you are limber all stretched out and ready to rock without pulling a hammy click on the link below and get signed up for a fun day at Insane Inflatable 5k!
