I walked into the studio as the second plane hit.

September 11th, 2001 is a date we all remember where we were and what we were doing.

The radio station I was working at had a small color 13'' T.V. in the corner. As I opened the studio door there were quite a few people in the studio gathered around the T.V., and a weird silence.

"A plane hit the World Trade Center building in New York", I was told. My first initial reaction was there was a dude in a privately owned plane that lost control and hit the building. What came next was unbelievable. I was watching as the second plane hit and all of our lives changed that moment.

There was panic in the building I was at, so many unanswered questions. People screaming and crying with lots of confusion.

I was supposed to be on the air 10am -3pm. We broke in with the live news coverage, in between I would play music. I did a lot of picking and choosing, trying not to make matters worse by something they heard.

One moment I'll never forget happened in the breakroom. People were wandering around trying to make sense of it all and I walked over to the GM at the time and asked one question, "What do you want me to do?"

"Get on the air and f****** be Captain Jack".

Insensitive, no. Allowing those a getaway to something entertaining, yes. I tried my best.
