Of course, we all know that Illinois is popular for its food, chefs, and restaurants. One of the most famous types of meals in our state is pizza. Most people immediately think of deep dish style but don't sleep on the other kinds. It's all good in the Land of Lincoln.

Everyone in Illinois has their favorite restaurants for pizza. They could have multiple places to cover the different styles of the tasty dish. Many of those popular places have amazing memories attached to them.

For me, one of those pizza places that brings up great childhood memories is Home Run Inn Pizza. We used to go there after Chicago Bears games back in the day. We knew all the people that sat around us and it was a popular meeting place for dinner.

Home Run Inn Pizza is very popular in Illinois but they took their business to the next level and became world famous by starting to sell frozen pizzas years ago. Every once in a while I pick one up at the store for a nice little food flashback.

I just heard some sad news about Home Run Inn Pizza. They are going to be closing three of its locations including Berwyn, Bronzeville, and Melrose Park. Hopefully, it's just a slight business adjustment and not a trend. That would be a huge loss for the state and pizza lovers.

The owners released a statement that said the closing would be better for their pizza business and give them the ability to expand and improve the other locations. I'm going to have to get some Home Run Inn the next time I'm in the city.
