I used to think that owning a music venue lounge would be cool. Then, I found out how difficult the bar business actually is. You have to really know what you're doing, or the place we be out of business faster than you can say closed.
Celebrity-Owned Bar In Chicago Goes Out Of Business
Even successful bar owners with years of experience have failures in the business. There is no guarantee. You have so much competition in the marketplace, it better offer something different or you'll be done. Plus, you better do it well or you've got no chance to survive.

One kind of curb appeal for a bar is having celebrity owners. Of course, their fans will come out to support the business. That will only take you so far. Even restaurants owned by the one and only Michael Jordan didn't make it.
Chicago Sports fans were excited when a couple of the biggest former stars teamed up for a place. It was called Welcome to the Farm. The owners were Jimmy Butler (former Chicago Bull) and Roquan Smith (former Chicago Bear). Country music star Chase Rice was involved, too.

That sounds like a winning combination. Unfortunately, even with that star power of ownership, the place didn't make it. In fact, the bar only made it eight months. I'm guessing they won't be opening another bar anytime soon.
According to Chicago Eater in Illinois, "The bar, backed by a team of celebrities including NBA star Jimmy Butler, NFL standout Roquan Smith, and country sensation Chase Rice, shuttered in late March."
