Harlem Looking for Positive Role Models
As part of their successful program PBIS, Positive Behavior Intervention Systems, Harlem School District is looking for volunteers for the Huskie Pack Leaders program. What the program consists of is parents and community leaders, typically fathers or father-like figures, taking time out of their busy schedules to volunteer and attend classes at Harlem Middle School.
The students come to know these volunteers as Huskie Pack Leaders. This is a program that gets everyone involved. It could be cooking in foods class or even helping out in science class. Pack Leaders are given the chance to participate while being a positive influence in the lives of Harlem Middle School students.
Pack Leaders also provide help in the classroom that teachers greatly appreciate. Most of all, the students benefit greatly from this program. It allows the students to see a positive role model from their community. It also gives them someone who they can speak to about the importance of education through their own knowledge and personal experience.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the Huskie Pack Leader program, please call Harlem Middle School at 815-654-4510 and speak with Mr. Lemons.
