What do a Southern rock jam band know about hard rocking riffs from Australia's biggest music export? Quite a lot, apparently, as Gov't Mule dedicated a major portion of their New Year's Eve show to saluting AC/DC.

The band played an extensive show Wednesday night at New York's Beacon Theater, breaking it down into a set of their own songs, a set of AC/DC classics and an encore. And they brought out a special guest to help out their AC/DC set, with Slash / Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy bringing some of the high voltage that Brian Johnson typically delivers.

Some fan shot video has surfaced from the show, with the group taking on 'Highway to Hell' and 'Let There Be Rock' in the opening of their AC/DC set above, while the Kennedy-led rendition of 'Girls Got Rhythm' that came later in the show can be viewed below.

The AC/DC set ran the gamut of the band's career, with songs like 'Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution,' 'T.N.T.,' 'Back in Black,' 'Hells Bells,' 'You Shook Me All Night Long,' 'For Those About to Rock' and 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' all turning up. Kennedy sang lead on all of the AC/DC songs with the exception of 'Ride On,' which found Gov't Mule's leader Warren Haynes stepping up to the mic. As for the encore, it consisted of AC/DC's 'It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll).'

Paying homage to their favorite bands is nothing new for Gov't Mule, who have already confirmed that they'll be playing Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' at one of their upcoming sets at the 2015 Mountain Jam festival. That event takes place June 4-7 at New York's Hunter Mountain ski resort. More details can be found here.

Just last month, Warren Haynes told Ultimate Classic Rock that the band was "psyched" for their New Year's Eve show and decision to take on AC/DC. He explained, “We’ve been talking about doing an AC/DC set for quite a few years. But it’s a little out of my range from a vocal standpoint. Myles’ range is higher than mine and it worked out that he was available this year. He’s the perfect guy to do it.”
