It's time to jump on the University of Illinois football bandwagon.

I want to start by saying, I've never been a huge University of Illinois Illini football fan. When I was in high school I remember having a Jack Trudeau jersey but that's as far as it goes. I think it's because their seasons are usually disappointing. Especially, for the past several years.

They brought in former Chicago Bears head coach, Lovie Smith, to run the program. It's been a struggle but things might be finally turning around.

According to wgntv.com,

"Illinois football has become bowl eligible for the first time under Lovie Smith following a remarkable win against Michigan State."

When you look at what's going on with the teams in Illinois, this is good news.

According to sportsmockery.com,

"Barring a miracle run by the Bears, it’ll be the first year/season since 2004 that none of the five major Chicago sports teams make the playoffs."

Fans need something to cheer about and this University of Illinois story is a good one.

Pull out those orange t-shirts and root for the Illini.

By the way, congratulations to all of my friends who are fans. The wait is finally paying off.

I believe in supporting local teams. I'm on the bandwagon, please join me.
