Amidst public safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a fireworks display has been canceled for 2020.

Nope, it's not Rockford but its still disappointing news for residents in and around Winnebago, Illinois. The announcement came late Friday evening on Facebook.

Above all else, the health, safety and well-being of our community and its members, are at the forefront of all decisions regarding social gatherings in this unprecedented time of the COVID19 Pandemic.

Winnebago officials have not yet made a decision on the village's July 4th parade. Also, no announcements have been made in regards to Rockford's Fourth of July celebration.
