It's no wonder that people use the word 'mother' to describe things that are epically important. If something is deemed the 'mother of all...', you are being told that its the definitive example of whatever is being described. Life on earth is dictated by Mother Nature. Even when insulting someone, putting the word 'mother' before the insult is really just a twist of the knife.

My mom put up with so much crap from me and the things she doesn't know about would probably get her to excommunicate me from all family functions from now until eternity. In fact, in my mid-twenties I started to tell Mom about some of those things. I figured I was an adult and it was cool. She stopped me after the second story. She just didn't want to know. Mom did me good. I wouldn't put up with my crap. She did. Then Dad did. Then Mom did. Then Dad did again. Then I got my own place. It was best for everyone.
