Police in Illinois are searching for a pair of drag queens who recently robbed a convenience store.

When I started out in radio, there needed to be someone at the station all the time, 24/7. My first real gig in the business after college was here in Rockford. I started working weekend overnights, which were midnight to 6 am. I used to have some really interesting callers, many of whom were intoxicated.

I also had several regular callers. Most of them were working third shift. A handful of those folks worked at convenience stores and gas stations. They all had very strange stories to share about customers and even times when their place was robbed.

At a 7-Eleven in Park Ridge, a pair of men dressed in drag walked into the store. They headed straight to the employee working at the cash register and sprayed mace in his face. Then they stole a bunch of smokes and booze. Of course, the essentials.

According to CBS News...

When they got there, the clerk told them two suspects came into the gas station, walked around the counter, and sprayed them with a chemical, which police believe was mace.

 

The suspects then robbed the store of several cartons of cigarettes, bottles of liquor, and ran away south on Cumberland.

 

The suspects were described as two Black men who were dressed as women, one wearing a black shirt and gray pants, and the other wearing a tan shirt and black pants.

My mom once told me that "people will steal anything that's not nailed down." Times certainly have changed since then. The thieves now have nail removers.
