With Memorial Day approaching, do your part by recycling for our soldiers and veterans.

I know first hand what it is like to have a loved one off to duty. Time schedules are confusing, letters are wonderful yet a phone call is fantastic. It's heartwarming to hear your loved ones voice after days, weeks or months away.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Recycling Centers are collecting cell phones, pagers and tablets to be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers this Memorial Day week.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cost-free communication services to active-duty military members and veterans.

What a fantastic way to keep the earth green and help our troops.

Cellphones can be dropped off at both Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Recycling centers Saturday May 23rd. Their addresses are 4665 Hydraulic Road in Rockford and 13125 N. Second Street in Roscoe. Both locations are open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Let's help bring phone calls and communication home to our veterans and active-duty military.
