Once you read the definition of what a 'shared street' is, your eyes may bug out of your head.

You've got to be kidding me.

Maybe I have to see the shared street to understand it, but on paper this sounds like a death trap to me.

Chicago's first shared street, according to WGN, will be completed by the end of the summer. It will be between Broadway and Sheridan.

What exactly is a shared street? Well, it is a street that cars, bicyclist and pedestrians can all share at the same time. It has no curbs and has decorative pavement. Take a look at the plans:

I can't be the only one who thinks this will be a disaster? Sure, it may look pretty... but have you ever tried to cross a street in Chicago, let alone walk side by side with a car!?

The Department of Transportation says there will be plenty of signage to make sure that everyone shares the road together and pedestrians are safe, but I'm not putting my trust in a sign.

What do you think? Am I losing my mind over here or is this an absolute ridiculous idea? Let me know in the comments below.
