I grew up around dogs. My family always had one when I was a kid. That was my pet experience and I loved it. Unfortunately, the only time I spent with a cat was my grandma's, it was really mean, and a biter.
The Catcade In Chicago
That cat swore me off the animals for many years. When I met my wife she was a cat person. She had one for a pet. It was really nice so she converted me into a cat guy. Through the years we've had a few cats as part of our family.

At one point, we had four. Two were ours and the others we were taking care of for a friend. Now, we are down to one. She is old and spoiled so it's not a good time to bring in another one.
My family enjoys all kitties, so I was pretty excited to hear about cat cafes popping up around Illinois. Unfortunately, there isn't one in Rockford yet. I just found out about one in Chicago that would definitely be worth the trip. It's called The Catcade.

The Catcade is a cat cafe that also has free video games. That's a nice bonus. It's a homestyle environment so the cats roam free. Of course, you can spend your time petting the cute kitties. Most of the animals are up for adoption.
They also have free WiFi so you can bring your laptop and do some work while a cat sits comfortably on your lap. Reservations are required. It costs $20 for 55 minutes but that goes towards the care of the cats.
According to The Catcade in Illinois, The Catcade is a non-profit, arcade-themed cat rescue, lounge, and our version of a cat café.
