Playing Atari 2600 at my friend Derek's house one day, and he said let's play this new game I just got, it was Journey - Escape.

Before there was Guitar Hero, and Rock Band, and any other music related video game there was Journey - Escape for the Atari 2600. A video game based on a rock band that came out in 1981, I was blown away.

While at that point in my life I had no clue was a "groupie" was what a "tour manager" did, they both came to life in this legendary game.

The game played sorta like a combo of Space Invaders and Centipede. You moved quickly, avoiding the evil trappings of that rock and roll lifestyle.

What's better, the game played the songs off of Journey - Escape...Well sort of. The music was the computer bleeps and blurts that somewhat sounded like the Journey hits. But in 1981 CLOSE ENOUGH! This game rocked, and was my go to Atari 2600.

Here is a great play by play on this video game classic. It's no Frogger or Donkey Kong, but you can tell by the excitement in the video it totally rocked and was ahead of its time.
