Criminals nowadays have no fear. They're not worried about getting caught. The suspects believe the risk is worth the reward. The thieves have also gotten a lot smarter. They're coming up with new scams all the time to steal your stuff.

If a thief really wants to steal your car, they're going to do it and you pretty much can't stop them. The key is to make your vehicle less attractive to take. If two similar automobiles are sitting right next to each and one has an alarm but the other doesn't. Guess which one is getting stolen? The easier choice.

The Illinois State Police recently released a list of best practices that will help prevent your vehicle from being stolen. I know they seem very obvious but drivers still don't do them and their car gets ripped off.

The one that makes me laugh is when people leave their cars unlocked or even better, leave their keys in them. Of course, it's going to get stolen. Don't leave your vehicle running and unattended. Might as well put a "Free Car" sign on it. Just common-sense stuff can help in the long run.
