This case keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Five-year-old Andrew "AJ" Freund has been missing since last Wednesday when his parents put him to bed in their suburban home at around 9pm.

AJ was reported missing the following morning, but an Amber Alert was not issued because police didn't find evidence that the boy had been abducted.

Since then the child's mother, Joann Cunningham, retained an attorney because she felt they were considering her a suspect. She has also since quit cooperate with authorities.

As the search continues more things keep coming out making this a whole lot weirder.

It has been released that DCFS has been involved with the family since AJ birth in 2013.  They had continued involvement off and on until December of 2018 where they were investigating allegations of abuse and neglect.

AJ's parents Cunningham and Andrew Freund Sr.,  who were living together, but not romantically involved, had their younger son taken into protective custody by the state last week.

Now the former couple is no longer communicating but is scheduled to attend a DCFS hearing Tuesday afternoon at the McHenry County Courthouse in Woodstock.

Cunningham's attorney, George Kililis plans to hold a press conference afterward.

Cunningham, who is seven months pregnant, is also scheduled to appear before a judge on a previous traffic warrant.

Authorities, including the FBI, are continuing their search for Andrew "AJ" Freund by following up on any and all leads/tips.

This case just keeps taking a weird turn after a weird turn. We'll keep you posted as the events unfold.
