So here we are in 2016, in Rockford Illinois. What is the news full of, negative stories involving Rockford Police Officers simply trying to do their jobs.

Police officers risk their lives, for us. Police officers put themselves in harms way, for us. Police officers try to help us make safer and wiser decisions, for us.

So with the work that Rockford Police Officers do for us, how can we say thank you?

I am very fortunate to know and be friends with many Rockford, Loves Park, South Beloit, State and County Police Officers. I have heard stories that would make you think, there is no way that stuff happens...But it does, daily, so let's say thank you this week.

Here are 10 Ways to Thank a Police Officer according to Baudville :

  • Write a letter - Send it to us, we will post it on 967TheEagle.net, or send it right to them.
  • Put together a plate of cookies - Sweets and a thank you card, winning.
  • Pay for their order - Coffee, fast food, etc
  • Personally deliver - Showing support with an in person thank you
  • Make a donation - Perhaps under the name of a fallen officer, or simply find a Police supported cause.
  • Create and frame a certificate of appreciation - Pass it around your work and have everyone sign it.
  • Purchase a planter of spring flowers - Can't go wrong with flowers.
  • Brighten up your police department's break room - Again, snacks. Sweets, cookies.
  • Filling a need of their station or department - Please ASK before hand, but is there any work needed. Simple tasks you can help with.
  • Coordinate a potluck lunch - Contact the police department and ask when and what can be done.
