Baseball Is Very Popular In Illinois 

I would think that baseball is easily one of the more popular sports in Illinois for both participation and watching. I think it's a right of passage for kids in our state to play ball at least for one summer. I was on a team from T-Ball until I was sixteen. I loved every minute of it even though I wasn't one of the best players or on any good teams.

Of course, there are many baseball fans throughout our state. They cheer for their kids, family, and friends. They also have a favorite Major League team that they follow. For many residents of Illinois, that's usually the Chicago Cubs or Chicago White Sox. Unfortunately, the winning years are few and far between, so we have to find other players to give us excitement.

When I look back at the MLB, one of the most exciting times was in the 1990s or what fans like to call the steroid era. Of course, those players could hit the ball a mile and they did it a lot. Of all those stars leading the way was Jose Canseco. He broke all kinds of hitting records. The man recently came to Rockford, Illinois for an event.

Last Saturday was a lot of fun for baseball fans. The star slugger, Jose Canseco, came to the Forest City for a charity event thanks to the Rockford Rivets. The day started out with a Home Run Derby at Prairie Street Brewing Company featuring the team and their biggest rival, Lakeshore. The winner got the chance to take on the former Major Leaguer. Tons of people came out to see if Jose could hit the ball over the Rock River.
